Essential QA and Testing
After completing this training you will be able to:
- Explain and communicate the benefits of certain testing strategies
- Create and execute a test plan taking in to account key criteria like users, devices, budgets and timescales
- Communicate outcomes of tests well with the wider team
This course covers a quick intro into the fundamental principles of testing with practical exercises and demonstrations to make the most of the time and budgets available.
What is Testing?
We will be finding out about the craft of testing. How testing contributes to software development and why it is so important. We'll look at the real impacts lack of testing can have. We will begin our learning by looking for ambiguity so we can ask the right questions.
Creating a test plan
First we’ll look at an example together as a group. Who are our users, what might they want to do? What systems and devices are they using? What budget do we have? How much time? From here we will create a solid plan to effectively test the software.
I found a bug …what next?
Documentation and reporting are important. More so in some settings than others but there will be some. This session will explain how you should document the bugs that you find.
- Examples of information you think testers may have responsibility for delivering?
- Provide creative examples of how people have created great, effective documentation without being overly wordy.
- not all companies require in depth test scripts, single page test strategies, etc.
- What happens if a bug fails?
This course is run in 3 half day sessions - all delivered remotely via zoom so can be accessed from your home or workplace. Group sessions are delivered by experienced, professional software testers.
There are no technical prerequisites for this course other than a basic understanding of browser based systems or IT workspaces e.g Google Workspace / MS Office.
