Alix Wild wasn’t searching for a course for herself when she discovered the Women’s Leadership Bootcamp by The Coders Guild. As an experienced Learning & Development professional at Luminate Education Group, she was actually researching training options for her colleagues. But something about this particular bootcamp, designed specifically for female leaders, stood out.
“I've had leadership training. But I don’t think I’d ever done anything specifically aimed at women leaders. That’s what really appealed to me.”
It was a simple moment of curiosity that turned into a profound journey of personal and professional growth, highlighting the importance of focused leadership skills development for women in leadership.
What Makes This Bootcamp Different?
Alix had been to leadership workshops before, but this one hit differently. Built for women, by women, it combined real-world strategy with space for personal reflection and emotional intelligence—factors often sidelined in traditional leadership training. The program emphasised developing robust leadership skills for a management role or even senior leadership roles.
The bootcamp helped her explore a new leadership mindset—one grounded not in emulating others, but in embracing her own strengths.
“I don’t need to be the ‘Wall Street boss’ type. I can lead as I am.”
The programme introduced models like Disney’s Creativity Model and Simon Sinek’s 'Start With Why'—frameworks Alix now weaves into her coaching and day-to-day work. It wasn’t about learning something new for the sake of it. It was about rediscovering what made her unique as a leader and amplifying it with practical skills and strategies for her career progression. This approach fosters career growth and helps create confident leaders.
Real Talk, Real Growth
What set the experience apart wasn’t just the content—it was the people. In a space designed to be open, honest, and non-judgemental, Alix found herself among a circle of women who got it. This environment provided excellent networking opportunities.
“There were times I showed up and said, ‘I’m just not feeling it today, I’ve got nothing to add.’ And that was okay. It created a culture where honesty was valued.”
Facilitators Emma, Sally, and Christina led by example—ditching the ‘teacher vs. student’ dynamic in favour of collaborative learning. Alix described the experience as being like a women’s circle, where mutual growth was more important than perfection, emphasising effective communication and open dialogue. This inclusive atmosphere contributes to greater gender equality within professional development.
Beyond the Classroom: Real Impact
The course didn’t just give Alix a boost in confidence—it gave her tools she could apply immediately. Graduates leave with an action plan for immediate application.
From helping teams align their vision and strategy using the ‘Start With Why’ model, to reshaping the way she runs brainstorming sessions, Alix now leads with clarity, empathy, and creativity, leveraging her enhanced communication skills. And she’s not alone—every graduate leaves with a toolbox of methods that are as applicable in the workplace as they are at home. These are truly practical skills that foster career growth.
Her advice for anyone considering the course?
“Just leap. You don’t need to be in a leadership position or have everything figured out. This is a space to grow, reflect, and gain clarity, becoming one of many confident leaders from the program.”
