Your free AI Maturity & Skills Gap Report
Your free AI Maturity & Skills Gap Report
See exactly where AI fits in your business: which projects pay, which risks matter, and who on your team needs what training.
We build it from public information about your business before we even speak, then work through it with you. No cost, no pitch.
For founders, directors, leaders, and senior managers in growing businesses.
βThe operating model for business has changed.Β
The ones pulling ahead arenβt just using AI, theyβre rebuilding how they work around it.β
Crispin Read
β who led the R&D on the UKβs new Level 4 AI and Automation standard with Skills England
Most businesses have started with AI. Few have gone far.
The growing businesses we talk to have usually started with AI. They’re just not getting much from it yet. Sound familiar?
- A few people use it, nobody’s sure who or how
- No policy, so everyone’s winging it
- Whoever should be leading it hasn’t had time to learn it
- It all lives in one person’s head, and they could leave
You don’t need to learn all of it. Just enough to lead it well, with a couple of people who can do the doing.
Start with a free AI Maturity & Skills Gap Report
A completely free AI readiness review. Most of it is built before we even speak.
We build your first report.
Give us your company name and website, and we go and build a benchmarked picture of where your business sits with AI – measured against similar businesses in your industry, size, and region. You get a first draft before you’ve done a thing.
A quick call to confirm and shape it.
We check what we’ve got right, adjust what we haven’t, and talk through the projects you’re actually thinking about. Far easier to react to something real than start from a blank page.
Add a skills gap analysis across your team.
A short analysis goes out to the wider team and feeds back into the report.
You get the finished report.
A maturity and capability rating, quick wins, project ideas, and a clear view of who’d benefit from what training. Yours to keep. No commitment.
What's in your report
- Where you sit on the AI maturity curve, and where the opportunity is
- Projects worth doing now - and the ones we'd steer you away from
- Your quick wins: things you could start this week
- Beyond efficiency: where this could take the business
- The risks worth knowing about
- A full skills gap analysis for your team
- Where to invest, and what training actually moves the needle
Next AI for Leaders cohort starts 15 September, short courses open the same month. Get your report first and the training decisions land in time.
“The insights into generative AI and the practical applications we explored have given us a new perspective on how to leverage technology for growth. The course was not only informative but also highly applicable to our everyday business needs.”
Jilly Parker
CEO, GoLive Experts
“The Coders Guild offered clear and practical insights into generative AI, which weβve started applying in our business. The course was well-structured and relevant to our needs, making the learning process straightforward and effective.”
Michelle Stubbs
MD, Delemere Manor
“The course really helped us change a couple of our processes and start using tools we didn’t even know existed, which has saved us time and money. We’re now implementing a tool that saves considerable time in our sales process, following up with people who’ve visited our website but haven’t turned into an enquiry. I’d highly recommend it.”
Faresh Maisuria
MD, Blueberry Marketing
“It’s been brilliant. Catherine is already introducing ideas and new workflows that are improving our processes and efficiency. She recently led a session for our whole team reviewing how we’re each using AI, drawing on what she’s been learning. We’re all using AI in a more joined-up way now, and we’re starting to use it to support our project work in ways we didn’t before. We’re really happy with the process and appreciate the ongoing support.”
Frances Corcoran
CEO, Amazing People Schools
Who needs what training? That's what the report uncovers.
Every business we talk to has the same shape of question: the leader needs one kind of knowledge, the team needs another. Your report maps who would benefit from what, so you’re choosing training from evidence rather than guesswork.
No two people on your team need the same thing. We’ve got courses from beginner to leadership, and where they don’t fit, we build something bespoke.
But the format matters less than what sits underneath it: everything we teach gets applied to your business straight away. People learn a thing, then do that thing at work, and we feed back on the real output. So the training isn’t time away from the job. It’s work on the business that pays for itself as you go.

FOR THE TEAM
The skills to actually do the work
Funded through the Growth and Skills Levy
One to three of your people build real, hands-on AI and automation skills while working on live projects in your business from week one, so the leading and the doing move together. Most employers pay a small charge, or close to nothing, because it’s funded through the levy. It’s delivered as the Level 4 AI and Automation apprenticeship, the UK’s first, which we created with Skills England.

βBusinesses need outputs, not certifications. That’s why our training returns value fast: people do the work on your business, instead of watching videos and hoping some of it sticksβ
Crispin Read, CEO The Coders Guild
We didn't just learn this. We wrote the standard.
Built from real business needs, not a syllabus
Crispin led the R&D to create the UK’s first Level 4 AI and Automation apprenticeship standard, working with Skills England and the Alan Turing Institute. It started with the businesses themselves. He sat down with dozens of leaders in high-growth companies and worked through their real projects, their blockers, and what AI adoption would actually need to look like to work for them. We designed it around a practical AI adoption programme for SMEs, then reverse-engineered the qualification from that. That standard is now delivered by apprenticeship providers across the country. We’re the ones who designed it.
The research went wider than our own conversations. Through UKRI and Innovate UK we drew together the evidence from the previous eighteen months on digital skills and AI adoption among UK SMEs, and pulled the useful parts into a white paper you’re welcome to read here.
None of this is new ground for us. We’ve spent over a decade delivering technical training that holds up at work, across software development, testing, and cybersecurity. That time has taught us how people actually learn hard technical skills: training tied to business outcomes, built into the working week rather than bolted on, so your team spends less time away from the job and the return shows up sooner.
Proven in our own business first
And we use all of this ourselves. We’re a growing business with the same pressures as the ones we work with, and the methods we teach have changed how we operate. Early projects gave us gains of around 20%, and the ones we’ve taken furthest have compounded well beyond that. You can see how we think about AI, teams, and automation across our webinar series.

The founder's dilemma: delegating to agentic AI

FAQs
FAQs
What is an AI maturity report?
A free review of where your business sits with AI, benchmarked against similar businesses in your industry, size and region. It includes a maturity and capability rating, quick wins, project ideas, the risks worth knowing about, and a skills gap analysis across your team.
Is it really free? What's the catch?
It’s free and there’s no pitch on the call. The honest version: some businesses go on to train with us because the report shows them who needs what, and some don’t. Either way you keep the report.
Who is the report for?
Founders, directors and senior managers in growing businesses who know AI matters but don’t yet know what to spend, what to automate, or who on the team needs training.
How is the report built?
Once you book, our team and our agents build the first draft from publicly available information about your business, lined up against what we’ve learned from the businesses we’ve worked with and the research we’ve done over the last couple of years. Then we go through it with you on a 45-minute call.
How long does it take?
Your first report is ready within a week of booking. The call itself is 45 minutes, and in most cases the report is yours at that point – where the conversation changes the picture, we update it and send the final version on. If you add the team skills gap analysis, that’s a further 30 to 45 minutes of your time, and the finished version follows as quickly as your team completes it: a couple of days for a small team, a few weeks for a larger one.
What happens after the report?
You’ll have a clear view of your quick wins and who’d benefit from what training. If that points at the AI for Leaders course, the apprenticeship, or the short courses landing in September, we’ll say so plainly. If it doesn’t, we’ll say that too.
Do you need access to our systems or data?
No. The first draft is built from public information. Anything else, you choose to share on the call will add insight and accuracy but we do not need access to any systems or data to build the report.
How do I find out if this is right for my business?
Get in touch and tell us what you’re working on. No long forms, no sales process. If it helps to talk it through, we’ll set that up.
